I also recall Balmain junior clubs playing in our comp in the noughties..Ryde (stones)comes to mind and another club called Sawdust..from the Balmain comp |
And in 1967 A grade Gladesville Sports Club [also of Balmain District Juniors] finished 8th out of 9, but didn't run a team in any lower grade of the NSDJRL Competition. |

Milson point were called "waratahs "in the early days of junior rugby league.. I have also heard in the 40s Brooklyn did have a rugby league team, they were called the "Rovers" and wore Black with a yellow V.. Berowra in the 40s also had a rugby league team, they were yellow with a blue number and were nicknamed the Canaries.I just read an article where one of the guys was talking about his time playing for berowra in the 40s. |

Kodiaks,
Was the A a B, so to speak?, all the lists i have is that Milson Point Waratahs won the 1918 B grade, nothing official re 1916 but during the war i'm sure they'd had unofficial comps even if carnival knockouts?
I'm relying on the competition winners lists in the back of the NSDRLFC Annual Reports, Willoughby are listed as the 1916 A grade winners in all the ones i have that have the list [57, 58 63, 64 and 70]. Obviously factual errors can be made into truths if they continue to be repeated but i'd think in the 1950's someone would have been around to correct the error and fix it for the next year etc?
Its the great think about this historic odyssey we are undertaking-you could be right! |

Does anyone have old photos of the teams and info on colours or mascots? I also saw an old report of a team called 'glenorie' in the 70s which predates hills hawks. Anyone have any info on that? |

Hi CNBHS,
My mistake. The combined North Sydney / Manly Warringah C Grade comp was in 1966. See the post re Allambie Heights. |
